Topic: Prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease - How does embryology help?

Key Speaker: Dr B S Rama Murthy
Online (Recorded webinar – open to all registered users (requires windows computer with GynAc player)

The heart develops from a simple tubular structure into a complex organ consisting of chambers and vessels that are connected appropriately. Knowledge of the embryonic basis of CHD helps us to understand the reason why a set of findings occur in a particular cardiac defect. Thus, in the setting of the lead finding, one is able to foresee the other expected findings and the possible diagnoses. This lecture attempts to describe the embryogenesis of various cardiac defects in a simple but comprehensive manner supported by illustrative echographic case examples.
